Today is the first of three days the parties negotiating teams will formally begin with a view to forming a government. It is thought that most of today’s talk will focus on the Covid 19 outbreak as opposed to policy formulation.

However, neither party has enough seats to form a government and the Greens are insisting on a national government. It seems likely that should the two parties agree to govern they will make up the numbers with independent TD’s.

As the Coronavirus persists there is a feeling that the present government should stay in place.
