The Minister for Finance Pascal Donohue is meeting all the major Irish bank CEO’s to discuss a plan to help the bank’s customers affected by the virus.
It is thought that the plan will include a freeze of payments on personal and business loans.
The discussions with Banking and Payments Federation Ireland, which represents the Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Banks, Permanent TSB, KBC and Ulster has a plan to have an initial three-month freeze on mortgage and business loans for those whose livelihoods have been impacted by the partial shutdown of the economy.
The CEOs of the banks meet Mr Donohoe this afternoon, while it is expected they will meet officials in the Central Bank tomorrow
