The Green Party Deputy Leader Catherine Martin is under pressure to challenge Eamon Ryan for the party leadership.
The Dublin Rathdown TD has been backed by four Cork councillors to challenge the leader Eamon Ryan.
The party is currently negotiating with FF and FG to form a government.
In a recent vote taken by the parliamentary party Martin voted against going into negotiations with FF and FG
It is normal practice for the green party to adhere to the parties constitution which calls for an election for a leader after a general election.
Should the government formation talks be successful it then has to get a ⅔ majority from it’s membership
